Assessments

A comprehensive developmental history will be taken prior to assessment. Standardised assessment focuses on the underlying capacities needed to achieve full learning potential and typically includes:

  • Physical coordination skills – gross and fine motor skills incorporating fine motor precision and manual dexterity, bilateral coordination, ball skills, balance, strength and agility.

  • Auditory processing skills

  • Sensory processing

  • Contact with classroom teacher

Assessment may also include:

  • Standardised testing of adaptive behaviour skills – communication, daily living and social skills.

  • Standardised testing of reading, comprehension, spelling and maths skills which offers a benchmark for future progress.

Verbal feedback is included and written reports are optional.

Assessment protocols vary according to the child’s age and needs.
