Assessments
A comprehensive developmental history will be taken prior to assessment. Standardised assessment focuses on the underlying capacities needed to achieve full learning potential and typically includes:
Physical coordination skills – gross and fine motor skills incorporating fine motor precision and manual dexterity, bilateral coordination, ball skills, balance, strength and agility.
Auditory processing skills
Sensory processing
Contact with classroom teacher
Assessment may also include:
Standardised testing of adaptive behaviour skills – communication, daily living and social skills.
Standardised testing of reading, comprehension, spelling and maths skills which offers a benchmark for future progress.
Verbal feedback is included and written reports are optional.
Assessment protocols vary according to the child’s age and needs.
